Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What does the fetal heart sound like?
Q1. What does the fetal heart sound like?
A: The fetal heart sounds like a small train going “hong hong hong” or a horse’s hooves “da da da” — it is very rhythmic.
Q2. How to find the fetal heart?
Q2. How to find the fetal heart?
A: When locating the fetal heart, move the probe slowly and in small increments (about 1 cm). Hold the probe in place for 2–3 seconds after selecting a position. Do not rush; moving the probe frequently will only make it harder to find the heartbeat. Once you hear the fetal heart sound, continue moving the probe to find where the sound is loudest and clearest. At this point, there should be little to no noise, and the fetal heart rate reading will be the most accurate.
Q3. Why does the device show a reading even when not placed on the belly?
Q3. Why does the device show a reading even when not placed on the belly?
A: The fetal Doppler uses ultrasound Doppler technology, which detects all sound and vibrations, including air vibrations. It is normal for the probe to produce sounds when placed on an adult’s arm, the father’s belly, etc., but these sounds are clearly different from the fetal heartbeat. Only a clear, strong, continuous, and regular sound is the true fetal heart sound.
Q4. How often should I use it? Will overuse affect the baby?
Q4. How often should I use it? Will overuse affect the baby?
A: The fetal Doppler meets national standards for electromagnetic radiation and other safety indicators, so you can use it safely for daily monitoring. Under normal circumstances, it is recommended to measure 2–3 times per week. Women who are elderly in pregnancy or have a history of miscarriage may increase the frequency appropriately.
Q5. Important note for every mom!!
Q5. Important note for every mom!!
A fetal Doppler is a device for short‑term checking of the fetal heart rate. It is not suitable for long‑term fetal monitoring and cannot replace traditional fetal monitors. If you doubt the measurement results, please confirm through other medical methods.
